  • Responsibilities

    Workforce is currently accepting applications for an Assembler to join a fast-paced manufacturing team in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on mechanical experience who are comfortable working with tools, reading diagrams, and assembling complex components on a production line.

    Location: Richmond, VA

    Pay Rate: $17.00 – $21.00 per hour

    Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

    Position Summary

    Under moderate to direct supervision, the Mechanical Assembler installs mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components by following assembly instructions, manuals, and diagrams. This position involves the use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and pneumatic equipment to complete assembly operations efficiently and accurately.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Install hydraulic and electrical components according to specifications

    • Assemble parts using bolts, screws, rivets, cotter pins, clips, and fasteners

    • Use hand tools and portable pneumatic tools (e.g., impact wrenches, torque wrenches)

    • Position and secure engine block components to truck bodies using hoists and power tools

    • Assemble subassemblies, power modules, and fan housings

    • Operate drills, riveting machines, and hydraulic crimping machines as needed

    • Identify, stage, and distribute parts to proper work areas

    • Perform basic testing of assemblies to ensure quality and proper function

    • Accurately record work orders and inventory transactions

    • Operate forklifts and cranes/hoists (if certified)

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

    • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or assembly environment

    • Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail

    • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred

    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

    • Good verbal and written communication skills

    Physical & Working Conditions

    This position requires the ability to:

    • Use hands and fingers for handling, gripping, and assembly tasks

    • Stand and walk on concrete surfaces for extended periods

    • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; 51–100 lbs with assistance

    • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb up to 8 feet

    • Work in a loud manufacturing environment

    • Work around fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals

    • Meet vision requirements including close vision, color differentiation, and focus adjustment
