Assembly / Rack Fabrication Technician

Position Overview
Crown Innovations is seeking an Assembly / Rack Fabrication Technician to support fabrication, assembly, and testing activities for radio communication rack systems produced at the Ontario facility.
This role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and performing testing procedures associated with radio communication racks and supporting subassemblies. The technician will work closely with other team members to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule for shipment to customers.
The Assembly / Rack Fabrication Technician performs both mechanical hardware assembly and electronic assembly , supports staging and storage activities, and assists with preparing completed rack systems for shipment. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy and conformity with instructions.
This role requires the ability to perform repetitive lifting and movement of equipment , including large rack assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Rack Fabrication & Assembly
• Fabricate and assemble radio communication rack systems in accordance with engineering instructions and assembly documentation
• Perform both mechanical hardware assembly and electronic assembly associated with rack builds
• Assist with preparation, staging, and shipment of completed rack configurations
Subassembly Manufacturing
Support fabrication and assembly of major rack subassemblies used in production of radio communication racks at the Ontario facility, including:
• Roof panels
• RF body assemblies
• P1/P2 cables to Telco block
• Telco pullout shelf
• Computer shelf
• RF cables
• AC harness tray
• Data harness tray
• Rack preparation
• Staging racks for pre-assemblies
Electrical Assembly & Testing
• Prepare Test Box enclosures for assembly
• Assemble cable assemblies with connectors
• Perform drilling, soldering, and electrical assembly activities
• Assemble and test completed Test Box units
• Assemble and wire MDF components
• Test wire assemblies using supplied documentation and continuity verification test equipment
• Perform quality checks of assemblies to ensure proper function and compliance with specifications
Production Support
• Assist team members to ensure project schedules and shipment deadlines are met
• Support material handling, movement, and storage of rack systems and components
• Maintain organized work areas and ensure proper handling of tools and equipment
Required Technical Experience
• Understanding of minor electrical circuits
• Ability to read and interpret assembly diagrams and build instructions
• Experience working with mechanical and electrical assemblies
Required Tools & Equipment Experience
Experience operating or working with the following tools and equipment:
• Drill press
• Rivet machine
• Band saw
• Pliers
• Cutters
• Vice grips
• Soldering iron
• Terminating hand tool
• Heat gun
• Hand screw driver
• Electric screw driver
• Wire strippers
Minimum Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• Minimum one (1) year of mechanical and electrical assembly experience
• Ability to test wire assemblies using documentation and continuity verification equipment
• Ability to perform quality checks on completed assemblies
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs of equipment
• Ability to move rack assemblies weighing 300+ lbs
• Ability to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Skillsets
• Electronics technician experience
• Communications rack assembly experience
• FAA / telecom equipment assembly exposure
Schedule & Work Environment
This position is fully onsite at the Ontario, California facility.
Work is performed in a production and fabrication environment supporting rack assembly and shipment operations.
Compensation
Hourly Rate Range: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour (W2)
Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
Crown complies with all applicable state and local pay transparency laws. The listed compensation range represents the good faith salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, geographic considerations, and business needs.
