    Job Title: Assembly Technician II, Electrical

    FLSA Status: Nonexempt

    Department: Manufacturing Direct Cost-6215

    Reports to: Supervisor, Production

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

    The Assembly Technician II, Electrical is responsible for assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in the shop and field. Job functions will be a mix of working in teams and as an individual.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Functional & Technical Skills

    • Build, install, and service cabling and control panels according to engineering drawings and schematics
    • Interpret electrical schematics for trouble shooting field equipment
    • Assemble, build and install industrial and automotive electrical systems
    • Assemble prototype electrical systems for testing and development
    • Troubleshoot electrical issues for vehicles and rail-bound equipment down to the component level and provide field support as needed

    Customer Interaction/Management/Support

    • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in order to complete projects in a timely manner

    Operational Excellence

    • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace in a shared shop environment
    • Identify areas to improve documentation related to assembly and parts procurement
    • Identify production process improvements
    • Assist with parts inventory processes

    Safety Focus

    • Work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment
    • Assemble electrical interlock systems that will function in dirty and harsh environments

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Associate degree with Technical Certificate

    Experience: 3+ years’ experience of electrical work, strong familiarity with electrical test equipment including multimeters

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Problem solving/analysis
    • Technical capability in electrical systems
    • General computer skills
    • Able to build to engineering drawings and schematics
    • Work independently with some supervision
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain safety certifications and any required railroad certifications

    *Or 5+ years combination of education and experience in manufacturing, electronics, or mechanical discipline

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience: Soldering, basic computer networking, automotive electrical systems

    Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
