    Maumee Valley Country Day School is seeking an energetic, passionate, and student-centered coach to assist in leading our high school boys’ soccer program. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the game, proven experience working with student-athletes, and a commitment to fostering teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.

    This position reports to the Athletic Director and collaborates closely with the Head Boys’ Soccer Coach, fellow athletic department staff, and the Upper School Division Head. As a part-time coaching position, it is compensated accordingly and includes opportunities for professional development within a vibrant and supportive school community.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties:

    Assist in planning and executing practices that promote athlete growth, fitness, and skill development

    Support the head coach in implementing game strategies and team management during practices and competitions

    Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, promoting high standards of character and sportsmanship

    Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by adhering to Maumee Valley’s policies and protocols

    Meet performance goals established as part of the annual performance-planning process or as the result of organizational planning

    Actively engage in personal and professional work in support of the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

    Work independently with minimum supervision

    Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

    Skills and Competencies:

    Deep understanding of soccer rules, strategies, and coaching methods

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with high school-aged students

    Ability to foster positive relationships with players, families, and school personnel

    Organizational skills to manage practices, game schedules, and equipment

    Commitment to creating an inclusive team environment where all students feel valued and supported

    Credentials:

    Prior coaching experience at the middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level preferred

    CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

    Valid driver’s license (for possible travel to away games)

    Must be willing and able to secure an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. The school will support the selected candidate in obtaining this, which must be secured before the candidate can start practice.
