Position Summary:
Assist in procuring the needed goods and services for GCRC at the best possible price and in a
timely manner. Responsible for obtaining quotes, prepare and place purchase orders on commodities, materials, supplies, and equipment including special items. Position will require working in liaison with Buyer on buying merchandise that works in creating displays promoting sales. Must assist in maintaining inventory levels and work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and Buyer to assist in inventory analysis. Must use Retail Pro reports to ensure proper inventory levels of styles are maintained. Insure we are constantly evaluating inventory turns and sales. Some travel will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in participating in vendor/purveyor selection and review.
Assist in obtaining quotes from vendors.
Responsible for assisting in the preparing and placing of purchase orders.
Responsible for assisting in invoice discrepancies.
Assist in handling any adjustments for items not received or damaged items with vendors.
Provide feedback to purveyors on product quality, timeliness of deliveries, costing discrepancies and credits due.
Regularly analyze RPro reports to ensure proper ordering is carried out and inventory turns are managed to expected levels.
Assist in the preparation of reports on pricing and products.
Work with Warehouse Supervisor on a regular basis to assist and account for inventory.
Work with Warehouse Supervisor on inventory par levels ensuring that outs are kept to a minimum.
Participate in physical inventory count and verification as needed.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities:
1-3 years of purchasing or inventory experience preferred.
Experience working with Native American corporations and vendors preferred.
Assistant Buyer
Ability to communicate effectively in a clear concise manner, both orally and in writing.
Ability to effectively interact with external vendors and suppliers.
Ability to use computer and business software.
Ability to analyze Retail Pro reports to insure we manage inventory costs and insure inventory turns are within set guidelines.
Ability to understand all buying must be focused on what our visitors are willing to purchase and not make decisions based on personal tastes or likes.
Good mathematical skills.
Ability to work in a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors’ in Business or related field preferred.
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Word, Excel and purchasing/inventory programs.
Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
High School Diploma or GED.
Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays. Must be able to stand, bend, walk, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be able to push/pull up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis. Must be willing to work in an indoor and outdoor work environment with exposure to variable weather conditions. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays. Must be willing work in remote locations and travel between remote work locations.
