Job Summary
Position Overview: The Assistant Chef plays a key role in supporting the Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations. This position assists with food preparation, kitchen setup, and organization to ensure smooth and efficient service. During service hours, the Assistant Chef works directly on the line, cooking and plating dishes to maintain quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Sous Chef with daily kitchen tasks including prep work, inventory, and organization.
Set up stations and ensure the kitchen is ready for service.
Cook and prepare menu items during service according to recipes and standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Support in receiving and storing food deliveries.
Communicate effectively with the Sous Chef and the rest of the culinary team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
Qualifications:
Previous kitchen or line cooking experience preferred.
Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Food Handler’s certification (or willingness to obtain).
