Assistant Community Director

North Houston, TX
Full Time

  • Responsibilities

Most property management jobs are reactive. Something breaks, you fix it. Someone complains, you respond. This isn't that job. We're looking for someone who's already thinking three steps ahead. Who knows every resident by name. Who walks the property and sees what needs to happen before anyone has to ask. Who makes living here feel like more than just renting an apartment. If you read that and thought "that's literally how I already operate," — keep going. What This Actually Looks Like Day-to-Day You'll work directly alongside the Community Director to run one of North Houston's standout apartment communities. You'll own two of the most critical functions in property management: renewals and collections. That means you're the one driving residents to renew before the lease ever expires — and when someone falls behind, you handle it professionally, firmly, and fast. You'll also manage leasing, resident relations, move-ins, move-outs, work order coordination, and community events. You communicate with urgency and care. And on the days the Community Director is out? You run the show. You're Probably Already Thinking "That's Me" If... • You have 3+ years in property management, and you've actually done the work — renewals, collections, resident relations, the whole thing • Residents trust you. They come to you because they know you'll actually handle it. • You're comfortable having hard conversations — collections, late notices, non-renewals — without making it personal • You're organized without being robotic — you adapt when the day changes on you • You take ownership. "That's not my job" isn't in your vocabulary. • You're ambitious — you see this as a step toward running your own community Why This Company Is Different We're a fast-growing property management company on a mission to simplify real estate investing and build stronger communities. We're not corporate. We have a culture — THE CUT — built on Hospitality, Urgency, Trust, and genuine care for the team and the residents we serve. We grow people from within. The Community Director of tomorrow is the Assistant Community Director of today. You'll earn $45,000–$55,000/yr plus performance bonuses tied to renewals and occupancy goals — because the work you do directly moves the needle, and you should be rewarded for it. To Protect and Prosper. That's our creed. If this role is calling your name — apply. We're ready for you. Responsibilities: • Own the renewals process — proactively engage residents before leases expire and drive renewal rates • Manage collections and delinquency — follow up on late payments professionally and decisively • Support leasing efforts — show units, process applications, and coordinate move-ins/move-outs • Serve as the primary point of contact for resident relations and issue resolution • Coordinate work orders with the maintenance team and ensure follow-through • Plan and execute community events to drive resident engagement and retention • Step in to run daily operations when the Community Director is unavailable • Maintain accurate records and documentation across all functions Qualifications: • 3+ years of property management experience required • Strong communicator — in person, by phone, and in writing • Proven track record with renewals and collections • Organized, detail-oriented, and moves with urgency • Authorized to work in the United States Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 yearly
