Assistant Controller — Facility Services & Building Products
Location: Irvine, CA | Work Setup: On-site (M–F, 8–5)
The mandate
Stabilize and lead monthly and quarterly close. Own GL, reporting, and tax filings. Lift the AR/AP and general accounting function. Tighten controls and streamline ERP workflows (Salesforce/Certinia preferred).
What you’ll own
Close & reporting: calendar, cutoffs, accruals, reconciliations, journals. Deliver monthly BS, P&L, CF, and management reporting packs.
GAAP & policies: maintain accounting policies, tie-outs, supporting schedules, and documentation.
Tax: state and local filings monthly/quarterly/annually; respond to notices.
AR/AP/GL leadership: set SLAs, workflow, approvals, and cross-training; coach staff and address bottlenecks.
Job cost: costing, analysis, and reporting; support percent-of-completion and WIP schedules as applicable.
Controls: design and maintain key controls to safeguard assets and produce audit-ready financials.
Cross-functional: partner with operations, sales, and field teams to resolve close issues and data gaps.
FP&A support: budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and ad hoc analysis.
Audits: coordinate year-end external audit and field audits; compile PBC lists and support timely completion.
What success looks like in 3–6 months
Predictable close cadence with clean reconciliations and fewer manual entries.
A standard monthly reporting pack for leadership and field leaders.
AR/AP aging stabilized with clear owner actions and cadence.
Documented processes and controls adopted by the team.
ERP usage improved; less spreadsheet sprawl and faster data pulls.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or similar.
5+ years across accounting functions; experience in a senior/lead role.
Background in construction, building products, or field services; job costing experience.
US GAAP proficiency; skilled with both accrual and cash processes.
Track record leading AR, AP, and general accounting teams.
ERP proficiency; Salesforce/Certinia preferred. Advanced Excel.
CPA strongly desired.
Nice to have
WIP and percent-of-completion experience.
Multi-entity consolidations.
ERP implementation or optimization projects.
BI/reporting tools exposure.
Compensation & benefits
Base up to $165k \+ 10% bonus, plus medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and PTO.
Work schedule
On-site in Irvine, Monday–Friday, 8–5. Current workload is heavy with a plan to move toward a steady 40-hour week.
