Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller

About the Opportunity
An established real estate investment and property management group based in West LA is seeking a hands-on accounting professional to join its growing team. This role will support a diverse portfolio of multifamily and mixed-use assets across Los Angeles County, collaborating directly with senior leadership and operations to strengthen financial reporting, process efficiency, and overall portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations across multiple entities within an expanding real estate portfolio.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, budgets, and variance analyses.
- Lead or assist with month-end close, CAM reconciliations, draw packages, and lender/investor reporting.
- Support audits, tax prep, and other external reporting requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with property management and leadership to ensure accurate, timely financial data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5–10+ years of experience in real estate accounting (property management, investment, or development).
- Strong knowledge of Yardi and multi-entity accounting.
- Skilled in Excel (pivots, lookups, formulas) and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior team members preferred.
