As the Assistant Controller, you'll partner with operations and production leadership to help run the accounting function for a manufacturing environment, including implementing and monitoring the month, quarter, and year-end close schedules. This position requires working onsite 100% at the headquarters in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including cost accounting, inventory-related entries, and reconciliations, ensuring backup processes exist for every critical function.
- Create and maintain internal accounting policies and procedures that support manufacturing, inventory, and cost control practices.
- Monitor emerging technology and ERP capabilities to identify ways to automate accounting workflows and production-related reporting without sacrificing accuracy and accountability.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc financial and operational accounting reports for management and executive leadership, including margin and variance analysis by product or plant.
- Lead strategy planning, process improvement, and optimization of general and cost accounting operations in partnership with operations, supply chain, and production teams.
- Oversee and drive SOX Section 404 implementation efforts related to general accounting and inventory/cost accounting processes, including documentation and testing of key controls over financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to redesign and improve the operating effectiveness of internal controls through simplification, automation, and standardization across manufacturing sites.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors for quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit, including support for cost and inventory-related audit requests.
- Provide support for quarterly reviews and annual audits of SEC financial statements, domestic and international tax filings, statutory audits, and periodic internal audits.
