About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Financial Plant Controller to complete the financial operations at our Spartanburg manufacturing unit to ensure accurate financial reporting to our UK-based head office. This role is ideal for someone with solid financial knowledge who is eager to develop their skills in a small-business environment where contributions are appreciated. This is a part time role requiring a minimum of 24 - 30 hours per week. Full time hours may be available depending on the flexibility of the individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions and maintain accurate records for the Spartanburg plant.
- Prepare month-end financial reporting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Complete MRP system processing for stock management, sales ledger, purchase ledger, and general ledger.
- Prepare and supply key financial reports to the UK head office.
- Contribute to management accounts by providing financial data and sales/margin insights.
- Complete payroll processing. (Training provided).
- Process 401K contributions and benefit payments.
- Prepare tax filings, including Sales & Use Tax Returns.
- Complete banking operations, including processing transactions and credit card reconciliations.
- Work with auditors to provide financial documentation and ensure compliance.
- Support inventory control processes and stock reconciliation.
- Monitor budgeting and expense tracking under supervision.
- Assist with credit control to help optimize cash flow.
- Handle accounts payable tasks, including processing invoices and payments.
Key Skills and Requirements
- 2 -3 years experience in financial processing within a manufacturing or engineering business is required.
- Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Understanding of financial reporting, payroll, and transactional accounting.
- Familiarity with MRP systems and reporting.
- Experience of Payroll processing is advantageous but not essential.
- Proficient in Excel, including basic data analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
** This is a site-based, part-time role of between 24 - 30 hrs per week, work pattern by agreement.**
