    Assistant General Manager Grocery Retail Location: Talbot County, MD Employment Type: Full-Time

    Position Summary

    A reputable grocery retailer in Talbot County is seeking a qualified Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support store leadership and ensure operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong managerial experience, sound judgment, and the ability to uphold high standards in customer service, compliance, and team development. This role serves as a key leader within the organization and is responsible for maintaining consistent, efficient, and professional store operations, including vendor management and strategic supplier negotiations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Assist the General Manager with oversight of all daily store operations

    Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to staff across all departments

    Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

    Oversee merchandising execution, inventory controls, and product quality standards

    Manage vendor relationships, including product selection, pricing, and contract negotiations

    Monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective action as needed

    Support employee training, performance evaluations, scheduling, and discipline processes

    Resolve customer concerns in a prompt, professional manner

    Serve as the acting manager in the absence of the General Manager

    Required Qualifications

    Minimum of 2 to 4 years of supervisory or management experience in grocery, retail, or related industries

    Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage operational priorities, and meet performance expectations

    Experience with vendor relations, negotiations, and contract management

    Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    Knowledge of retail compliance, food safety standards, and inventory management practices

    Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

    Professional demeanor with a commitment to maintaining a high standards work environment

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

    Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods

    Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent physical activity
