    Position Summary

    The Assistant General Manager (AGM) partners with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the store. This position plays a key leadership role in employee development, scheduling, inventory management, customer service, and overall store performance.

    The ideal candidate leads by example, takes initiative, communicates effectively, and is committed to creating an exceptional experience for both customers and employees.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership & Team Development

    Train and onboard new employees.

    Teach department expectations, daily task sheets, and opening/closing procedures.

    Assist with New Hire Quiz completion and sign-off.

    Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and product education.

    Hold employees accountable to company standards and the Employee Handbook.

    Foster a positive, encouraging, and team-oriented work environment.

    Scheduling & Labor Management

    Create weekly employee schedules.

    Schedule within labor budget guidelines.

    Maintain employee availability and staffing needs.

    Plan staffing around holidays, concerts, sporting events, graduations, and other local events.

    Enforce attendance and punctuality policies consistently.

    Operations

    Assist with all aspects of daily store operations.

    Support Department Leads and provide coverage where needed.

    Maintain merchandising standards and store organization.

    Ensure pricing, shelf tags, and signage remain accurate.

    Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shopping environment.

    Inventory & Product Management

    Complete inventory adjustments from start to finish.

    Monitor inventory accuracy.

    Maintain strong product knowledge across wine, spirits, beer, and specialty items.

    Stay informed about new products and seasonal offerings.

    Private Event Orders

    Prepare event orders based on customer invoices.

    Verify product availability.

    Process event order returns accurately.

    Support the General Manager with event planning and execution.

    Online Ordering & Delivery

    Manage online delivery platforms, Uber Eats and DoorDash.

    Add new products to online catalogs.

    Update pricing.

    Resolve order disputes and customer issues.

    Hiring

    Participate in the interview process.

    Ask interview questions.

    Give facility tours.

    Help identify candidates who align with Sinkers' culture and values.

    Business Development

    Learn and understand key business metrics, including:

    Labor management

    Scheduling financials

    Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

    Weekly performance

    Year-to-date (YTD) reporting

    What We're Looking For

    Previous retail leadership or management experience

    Strong communication and organizational skills

    Excellent customer service abilities

    Ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees

    Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment

    Dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated

    Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require

    Ability to lift and move merchandise as needed

    Expectations

    As Assistant General Manager, you will:

    Lead by example every day.

    Participate in the weekend manager rotation.

    Maintain accurate cash handling procedures.

    Communicate effectively with the General Manager regarding employee concerns, customer issues, maintenance needs, and operational updates.
