    Assistant Infant Teacher Job Description

    Position: Assistant Infant Teacher Reports To: Academy Director

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Infant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (6 weeks to 12 months). This position follows all **Colorado Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations and helps ensure the daily care, supervision, and development of each child.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all infants
    • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily routines and activities
    • Help with feeding, diapering, and maintaining proper hygiene practices
    • Follow safe sleep policies in accordance with Colorado regulations
    • Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times
    • Supervise infants during play, rest, and transitions
    • Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and sanitized
    • Assist with documenting daily activities (feeding, diapering, naps)
    • Communicate respectfully with families and team members
    • Step into lead responsibilities when needed under supervision.

    Required Certifications

    • Must complete PDIS trainings
    • CPR & First Aid (Infant/Child) certification (or willingness to obtain)
    • Universal Precautions training
    • Background check and fingerprinting per Colorado regulations
    • Must be at least 20 years of age

    Skills & Competencies

    • Warm, nurturing, and patient demeanor
    • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
    • Basic understanding of infant care and development
    • Strong communication skills

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
    • Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and active engagement with children
    • Ability to respond quickly to infants’ needs
