At Waxing the City, our licensed service providers are not only waxing experts, they’re waxing authorities. This led us to create our very own title of Cerologist™ technicians, combining “cera” (Latin for wax) with “ologist” (to highlight their level of education and expertise). After a week-long, hands-on training course at our Waxing University®, our service providers become certified Cerologists.

We’re seeking a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist who thrives in a hands-on leadership role and is eager to grow their career in a supportive, high-performance environment. This hybrid position blends studio coordination, team development, local marketing execution, and client service (including at least two weekly Cerologist® shifts).
As Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the Studio Owner to ensure seamless day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the client experience, supporting training and performance development, maintaining a clean and professional studio, and representing the brand through local marketing events and partnerships. This is an ideal role for a licensed beauty professional who wants to expand their business and leadership skills while continuing to provide services in the treatment room.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Partner with the Studio Owner to lead daily studio operations and provide in-person support to the team
Perform waxing services (minimum two shifts per week) to stay connected to service quality and client needs
Mentor and support Cerologists® in achieving performance goals
Uphold brand standards for client service, cleanliness, and professionalism
Drive local marketing efforts, community partnerships, and event participation
Oversee supply inventory and manage ordering as needed
Assist with onboarding and training new team members
Serve as the on-site point of contact for urgent or escalated issues in the Studio Owner’s absence
Lead by example in communication, client care, and team collaboration
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Required: Current State Licensure (Esthetician, Cosmetologist)
Required: 1+ years of hands-on waxing experience in a professional setting
Required: 1+ years of experience in a management or supervisory role
Comfortable and open to performing male waxing services
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Passion for customer service and empowering team growth
Highly reliable and organized with strong follow-through
Comfort with basic tech platforms (POS systems, scheduling tools, email)
Must be able to work evenings/weekends as needed and attend community events
