We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our busy lumber yard. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a solid work ethic, and experience in retail, construction materials, or yard operations. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Manager to ensure efficient operations, excellent customer service, and a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in overseeing daily operations, including inventory management and order fulfillment
Supervise and support staff, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and loading
Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate stock replenishment
Help train new employees and enforce company policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized store/yard
Step in to manage operations in the absence of the Manager
Qualifications:
Previous experience in lumber, building materials, or a related industry preferred
Prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to operate forklifts and other yard equipment (or willingness to be trained)
Ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Basic computer skills for inventory and sales systems
