Job Summary
The Assistant Manager assists in the oversight of gym operations to ensure a welcoming and positive experience for members, guests, and prospects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere
Oversee member service
Support and assist the General Manager
Assist with staff management
Recruit, onboard, train, and develop staff
Provide coverage during absences
Resolve or escalate employee issues or concerns
Employee discipline, retraining, or offboarding
Assist in inventory, supplies, and reporting
Informed on marketing campaigns, promotions, and offers
Involved in all front desk operations
Greet members, guests, and prospects
Respond to member questions and concerns
Answer phones promptly
Check in members and update accounts
Facilitate new member sign-ups and conduct tours
Assist with cleaning and organizing the club
Qualifications and Requirements
Superior customer service skills
Leadership experience is a plus
Basic computer proficiency
Passionate about fitness and health
Positive and interpersonal
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Ability to resolve issues effectively
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Must be 18 years of age or older
Schedule Requirements
Schedule must fit the needs of the club
Must work full-time hours
Physical Demands
Remain standing or walking for extended periods
Frequent communication, in-person and via phone
Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Handle cleaning chemicals or biohazards safely
