Assistant Manager of Retail Operations Serves to overseethe entire operation of the Distribution and Recycling Center (DRC) including receipt of donations, processing, recycling, and disposal of donations, and supervision and training of the DRC team, community service workers, volunteers. Assist and/or fill in for processing, donation acceptance (dock) and volunteer liaison as well as other areas as needed.
Reports to: Director of Retail Operations
Hours of Availability:
Full-Time with typical schedule between 8am – 5pm; Monday – Friday; Saturdays alternated.
Locations: Distribution & Recycling Center (warehouse setting)
Compensation: $DOE (non-exempt/hourly)

Ability to follow and give clear and concise directions to team members and volunteers
Strong supervisory skills & ability to delegate
Ability to make and use own judgment to make decisions as needed in a variety of circumstances
Knowledge of environmental issues - recycling, hazardous materials, and waste disposal
Computer proficient in Word, Excel, Windows, Google worksheets & calendars, basic keyboarding skills and ability to learn new software programs
· Ability to lead, hold accountable and inspire various sub teams to make one team. · Ability to supervise and understand the fundamentals of a donation receiving and processing site.
Career Summary (not all-inclusive list):
The Assistant Manager will assist with the supervision and schedule of recycling operations, inspections, safety protocols and administrative services for compliance and proper tracking. Supervision and training of team members, volunteers, and community service workers. Logistics management of donation pickups, ensuring maintenance of company vehicles (submit work orders), and monitor drivers for safety standards and procedures.
All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.
