    Position Summary

    The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) is the senior operations leader at the school site, responsible for driving strategic operational excellence to ensure that all systems are student-centered, staff-supportive, and mission-aligned. This role leads a campus operations team and works closely with the co-principals and network operations staff to ensure school operations enable strong academic and cultural outcomes. The APO is a member of the campus leadership team.

    Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a business or related field. Advanced degree in business or education administration or related field is desirable.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in education (preferred), nonprofit, or similar field required. Management and operating experience is desirable.
    • Principal's licensure required, or eligibility for such licensure.
    • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction teacher and administrator licenses or eligibility.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities without comprising quality.
    • High-energy level and enthusiasm; willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with both families and colleagues; ability to develop relationships of trust and confidence.
    • Ability to motivate staff to deliver results in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
    • Achievement-oriented individual that takes initiatives, follows through on commitments, and focuses on surpassing expectations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Building Safety & Security

    • Oversee implementation of crisis protocols (lockdown, shelter-in-place, etc.)
    • Lead emergency drill execution and compliance
    • Manage building access, visitor systems, and security vendor oversight

    Schoolwide Systems & Logistics

    • Design and execute effective routines (arrival, dismissal, hallway transitions, etc.)
    • Oversee academic operations, including (but not limited to) testing operations, student schedules, and student of concern tracking
    • Manage traffic and parking systems for staff and families

    Student Information & Data Systems

    • Supervise enrollment and registration workflows
    • Ensure data accuracy in PowerSchool and other student information systems (SIS)
    • Lead attendance systems and reporting (average daily attendance; chronic absenteeism)
    • Support records management, transcripts, and test logistics

    HR & Staff Logistics

    • Lead campus onboarding/offboarding processes
    • Manage sub coverage, room assignments, time tracking, and operational PD support

    Strategic Ops Projects & Innovation

    • Lead campus-level innovation and improvement efforts
    • Launch and manage new systems aligned to goals and KPIs
    • Partner with network leadership on cost-saving strategies and operational pilots

    WORK ENVIRONMENT


    The APO is based at the school on a daily basis. The office environment is fast-paced and often requires standing for long periods, moving throughout the building, and lifting and stacking boxes. Minimal travel is required; however, the APO will be required to make weekly trips to the local bank to make deposits in their own vehicle. Occasionally, the AOP will travel to other Carmen schools for meetings. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
