Position Summary:
Seeking a dedicated and organized Assistant Produce Manager to help oversee the daily operations of our produce department. This individual will support the Produce Manager in ensuring high-quality product presentation, excellent customer service, and efficient inventory management. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh produce, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in supervising all produce department operations, including stocking, rotation, and merchandising of fruits and vegetables.
Monitor product quality and freshness to maintain high standards and reduce waste.
Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions, offering recommendations, and addressing concerns.
Train and support produce staff, ensuring adherence to safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
Help manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and storing produce.
Assist in creating and maintaining visually appealing displays to drive sales.
Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable health and safety regulations.
Fill in for the Produce Manager as needed, including opening or closing the department.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business, agriculture, or related field preferred.
1–2 years of experience in a grocery or produce department, with some leadership or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of fresh produce, seasonality, and quality standards.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for extended periods.
