Be the Person Who Connects the Field, Project Manager, and Leadership

At BF Construction Inc, successful projects do not happen by accident.

They happen because someone is constantly looking ahead, asking the right questions, following through on commitments, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager who wants to become a Project Manager—not someone looking for a clerical or administrative position.

This position works directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Leads, and Leadership to support active commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will help manage and drive schedules, coordinate subcontractors and vendors, track procurement, review documentation, identify risks, support field operations, and keep projects moving forward.

This role is ideal for someone who understands commercial construction, is highly organized, enjoys solving problems, takes ownership of outcomes, and wants a clear path into Project Management.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    Project Controls and Scheduling

Help develop, manage, and drive active project schedules

Maintain project schedules and the company Master Schedule

Build and maintain one-week and two-week look-ahead schedules

Coordinate upcoming activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Leads, subcontractors, and vendors

Identify schedule conflicts, missing information, delays, and sequencing risks

Confirm completed work before changing dates or reporting progress

Assist with recovery and resequencing plans when work begins falling behind

Update affected schedules and tracking systems when decisions or field conditions change

    Subcontractor, Vendor, and Procurement Coordination

Coordinate directly with approved subcontractors and vendors

Confirm manpower, material deliveries, equipment, inspections, access, and logistics

    Track procurement and long-lead materials

Follow up on outstanding commitments until they are resolved

Identify missing or unconfirmed delivery dates before they affect production

Communicate schedule impacts when subcontractor or vendor commitments change

    Field Coordination

Work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Leads

Review Daily Project Updates, SiteCam photos, field reports, and meeting notes

Verify whether documentation supports the reported project status

Identify incomplete work, missing documentation, and field coordination issues

Help ensure work is ready before the next subcontractor or trade arrives

Participate in project walks, planning meetings, and field coordination discussions

    Project Documentation

Review drawings, specifications, Bluebeam markups, RFIs, and submittals

Maintain current project records and tracking systems

Track RFIs, submittals, procurement items, and project action items

Support change-order documentation and pricing follow-up

Assist with billing readiness, punch-list tracking, and closeout documentation

Compare schedules, field updates, photographs, drawings, and meeting notes to identify conflicting information

    Communication and Follow-Through

Participate in and help lead structured project-planning meetings

Document decisions, responsibilities, deadlines, and schedule impacts

Prepare concise project updates for Project Managers and Leadership

Clearly state the issue, impact, recommended action, responsible party, and deadline

Ask direct and specific questions when information is incomplete or inconsistent

Track open items through completion without repeated reminders

Escalate risks at the appropriate time after gathering the relevant facts

    WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

This is not a clerical or general administrative position

This is not simply entering information into Smartsheet

This is not taking meeting notes without owning the follow-up

This is not forwarding every question to the Project Manager or Leadership

This is not accepting reports or photographs without reviewing what they actually prove

This is not a passive support role where someone else identifies and solves every problem

    WHAT YOU BRING

Three or more years of commercial construction experience

Experience supporting Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Leads, or construction operations teams

Ability to read construction plans, specifications, and project documentation

Understanding of commercial construction sequencing and project workflow

Experience with schedules, look-aheads, procurement, RFIs, submittals, or project controls

Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through

Ability to manage priorities across multiple active projects

Clear and professional written and verbal communication

Comfort communicating directly with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and Leadership

Ability to distinguish confirmed facts from assumptions and identify when a decision is required

A problem-solving mindset and willingness to recommend solutions

A strong desire to grow into a commercial construction Project Manager role

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    Commercial tenant improvements

    Office buildouts and renovations

    Site improvements

    Concrete and structural work

    Stadium, industrial, or specialty construction

    Smartsheet

    Bluebeam

    Procore or comparable construction-management software

    Microsoft 365

    Slack

    Dropbox

    SiteCam or comparable field-documentation systems

    WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Project schedules and look-aheads are current, realistic, and actively used to plan the work

Subcontractor and vendor commitments are confirmed before they affect production

Open items have clear owners, deadlines, impacts, and follow-up plans

Potential delays are identified before they affect field crews, inspections, clients, or later trades

Project documentation is accurate, current, and consistent

Project Managers and Leadership receive concise, decision-ready updates

Field and office teams are working from the same current information

Problems are identified early and followed through to resolution

Project Managers and Superintendents can rely on you

Projects move forward because you are helping drive them

    HARD REQUIREMENT

If your experience is limited to entering updates provided by others or completing administrative tasks without understanding the construction behind them, this is not the right role.

We are looking for someone who can gather information, verify facts, understand sequencing, identify risks, ask strong questions, coordinate multiple parties, and take ownership of follow-through.
