Position Overview
A growing Commercial Construction firm, Design/Build and Tenant Improvement in Houston is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support project teams across ground-up and renovation projects. This role works closely with senior project managers and field teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The APM will play a key role in project coordination, documentation, and overall project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and technical support throughout all phases of construction
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Manage and maintain RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project logs
- Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor coordination
- Identify scope gaps and support pricing and processing of change orders
- Track project progress, documentation, and compliance using project management software
- Participate in quality control processes, inspections, and punch list completion
- Support jobsite safety efforts in alignment with OSHA and company standards
- Assist with project closeout, including as-builts and turnover documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in commercial construction
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
