    We’re not your typical salon.

Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids is looking for an experienced stylist who is ready for more responsibility, but still loves being behind the chair.

This is a working Assistant Salon Manager position. You’ll spend most of your week cutting hair and taking care of customers, while also helping our leadership team manage the organization and keep the salon running smoothly. If you’re a strong stylist who naturally steps up, helps others, solves problems, and takes ownership when something needs to get done, keep reading.

What makes this different from other salon management jobs:

You’ll still work behind the chair and earn tips

No need to build your own clientele; we’re busy and appointment-based

You’ll have real leadership responsibility without giving up styling

    Every Sunday off

    Supportive team environment

Opportunity to help train and develop other stylists

Direct involvement in the success of the salon

Parents and kids who appreciate what you do

    What we’re looking for:

This job is NOT for everyone. We’re looking for someone who can be both a great stylist and a dependable leader.

You’ll do great here if you:

    Are an experienced, confident hairstylist

Enjoy working with kids and families

Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to handle a problem

Can give employees direction when needed

Stay calm when a customer or employee situation becomes difficult

Are comfortable coaching and training other stylists

    Communicate clearly and professionally

Notice problems and take care of them

Are dependable and show up on time

Can balance your own appointments while keeping an eye on what is happening throughout the salon

Understand that being a leader sometimes means pitching in wherever you’re needed

You might NOT enjoy this position if you:

Only want to focus on your own customers

Don’t like being responsible for what other employees are doing

    Avoid difficult conversations

Prefer someone else to make all the decisions

    Aren’t comfortable working with children

    Want a slow-paced salon environment

Don’t want to occasionally adjust your schedule when the salon really needs you

    What you’ll do:

You’ll work closely with our leadership team to help manage the day-to-day operations of the salon.

    Responsibilities include:

Work as a stylist and maintain a regular appointment schedule

Assist the leadership team with daily salon operations

Help ensure appointments stay on schedule and customers receive great service

Supervise and provide direction to employees when other leadership team members are not present

Help stylists resolve difficult customer situations

Respond to customer questions, concerns, and complaints

Train new employees on salon procedures, policies, POS functions, and customer service expectations

Coach employees and help reinforce established standards

Assist with employee scheduling and staffing needs

Participate in interviewing and hiring new employees

    Provide input regarding employee performance

Help identify and address employee performance problems

Motivate the team to meet retail, prepaid card, and salon revenue goals

Monitor salon supplies and make sure needed products are stocked

Help ensure cash-handling procedures are followed

Make sure daily opening, closing, cleaning, and salon procedures are completed properly

Help maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe salon

Keep the leadership team informed about important operational or employee issues

Step in and help cover staffing emergencies when necessary

    Your schedule:

    This is a full-time position.

As a working Assistant Salon Manager/Stylist, you will normally have at least 32 hours of bookable stylist appointments each week, with additional management responsibilities incorporated into your schedule.

Saturday availability is important because weekends are some of our busiest times. 3 Saturdays scheduled per month are expected.

    We are closed every Sunday.

    Qualifications:

Active Missouri Cosmetology or Barber License

At least 2 years of full-time hairstyling experience preferred

Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience is a strong plus

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Strong haircutting skills

Experience working with children is helpful, but not required

Ability to train and coach employees

    Strong customer-service and people skills

    Clear written and verbal communication

    Good judgment and problem-solving ability

    Strong time-management and organizational skills

    Dependable and detail-oriented

    What matters most:

We can teach you our systems. We can teach you how Cookie Cutters does kids’ haircuts. What we need is someone with maturity, judgment, integrity, and the willingness to take responsibility. You need to be the person who sees that something needs to be done and takes care of it.

If you’re already the stylist other employees come to for help, this may be the next step you’ve been looking for.
