    Job Description

    Join the professional world of horse racing as a vital member of our starting gate crew. As an Assistant Starter, you will work with high-performance horses and fulfill essential responsibilities during race day operations.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Manage and execute the safe loading of horses into starting gate positions according to established protocols and procedures.
    • Coordinate and supervise comprehensive horse schooling sessions to ensure optimal race day performance.
    • Maintain and update detailed documentation of horses requiring additional starting gate training, monitoring their progress and implementing appropriate training protocols.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and racing commission requirements during starting gate operations.
    • Collaborate effectively with racing officials, trainers, and other staff members to maintain efficient race day operations.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum age requirement of {AGE} years
    • Demonstrated proficiency in horse handling and management
    • Strong leadership capabilities with excellent communication skills
    • Physical requirements include the ability to climb, bend, and reach while maintaining balance and coordination in various weather conditions
    • Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience with starting gate operations
    • Knowledge of horse racing industry protocols and procedures
    • Experience in providing direction to both equine and human team members

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must obtain and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications as required by the racing commission
    • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with diverse stakeholders including trainers, racing officials, and support staff
    • Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance

    Candidates must meet all physical requirements and be willing to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
