Assistant Sterilization Specialist

Position Summary:

The Assistant Sterilization Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety and clinical readiness by properly sterilizing and preparing all instruments and equipment used across the medical center. This role requires attention to detail, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with infection control standards.

2. Decontaminate, sterilize, and package all reusable instruments and supplies following standard precautions.

3. Monitor biological and chemical indicators to ensure effective sterilization cycles.

4. Perform autoclave testing and document results as per protocol.

5. Ensure proper functioning of sterilization equipment; report malfunctions promptly.

6. Prepare exam room trays with sterilized instruments and restock supplies as needed.

7. Communicate effectively with team members and clinical staff to meet departmental needs.

8. Comply fully with all Ezra Medical Center policies, including infection control and compliance guidelines.

9. Participate in regular performance reviews where compliance adherence is evaluated.

10. Report any observed conduct or events that may violate legal or compliance requirements.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred

• Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical setting preferred

• Basic knowledge of infection control and sterilization protocols a plus

• Ability to work as part of a team and relate well to others

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
