    Happy Day Restaurants Corporation is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant General Manager. This role is responsible for supporting the General Manager in leading the daily operations of a high-volume, full-service casual dining restaurant. The Assistant General Manager helps ensure exceptional guest experiences, strong team leadership, operational excellence, and financial performance.

    The ideal candidate will be an organized, energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing teams, maintaining high standards, and delivering outstanding hospitality.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Team Development

    Assist the General Manager in leading, coaching, and developing the restaurant team.

    Train, assign, and monitor staff to ensure work quality and adherence to company standards.

    Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.

    Help motivate staff to maintain strong performance, teamwork, and professionalism.

    Support leadership development within the team by encouraging growth and mentoring employees.

    Operations Management

    Support the daily operations of the restaurant to ensure smooth and efficient service.

    Ensure all staff follow company standards, procedures, and expectations.

    Maintain a clean, safe, and organized restaurant environment.

    Ensure compliance with all health department regulations, food safety standards, sanitation guidelines, and workplace safety procedures.

    Guest Experience

    Ensure guests receive excellent service and a memorable dining experience.

    Support training of service staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about the menu and service standards.

    Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and staff.

    Address guest concerns or complaints in a timely and respectful manner.

    Culinary & Quality Standards

    Work closely with the kitchen leadership team to maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation.

    Ensure all products leaving the kitchen meet Happy Day’s standards for taste and appearance.

    Assist in supporting menu development and operational improvements when needed.

    Financial Awareness & Administrative Support

    Assist in managing labor, inventory control, waste reduction, and cost efficiency.

    Monitor operational reports and maintain awareness of restaurant performance and profitability.

    Utilize restaurant systems including HotSchedules, Jolt, Toast, BeerSaver, and other management tools.

    Support scheduling, reporting, and administrative responsibilities as needed.

    Professional Standards

    Maintain high expectations for cleanliness, organization, and employee appearance.

    Demonstrate professionalism, strong communication, and a solutions-oriented mindset.

    Remain calm and effective during high-volume and time-sensitive situations.

    Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager, VP of Operations, or President.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    Ability to manage and motivate a large team in a fast-paced environment.

    Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

    Strong time management and multitasking skills.

    Computer proficiency and ability to learn restaurant management software.

    Basic knowledge of full-service restaurant operations and service procedures.

    Access to reliable transportation.

    Flexible schedule with availability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.

    Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.

    Must have or be able to obtain ServSafe Manager Certification.
