Job Summary: The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in all aspects of the classroom. This role is essential for maintaining a high-quality environment, managing group activities, and stepping in as the Lead Teacher when necessary.
Key Responsibilities: ● Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities and curriculum as planned. ● Help prepare classroom materials, organize learning centers, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation. ● Supervise children actively during indoor, outdoor, and transition times, always ensuring adherence to ratio and safety standards. ● Assist with personal care routines including feeding, diapering/toileting, and nap time supervision. ● Step into the Lead Teacher role for short periods (ex. during planning time or breaks).
Qualifications: ● High School Diploma or GED. ● State-specific credential, ex., CDA or 6 ECE college credits preferred. ● Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and physically engage with young children (sitting on the floor, bending, running).
