Job Description

About the role:

We are seeking in our Minnesota office a Managed Care Assistant Underwriter who will be responsible for prioritizing and completing requests for proposals, analyzing and pre-underwriting new and renewal business for our Managed Care products. The position works within a team environment to produce a profitable book of business.

• Review underwriting information, develop rates and terms for Managed Care accounts based upon underwriting principles, guidelines, and account specific data
• Interact with brokers, consultants and reinsurance intermediaries as necessary
• Compose, prepare and generate correspondence, proposals and statistical reports as required
• Provide management reports and maintain key data systems as required
• Responsible for all aspects of account management and producer relationships to maximize profitability and meet service standards
• Works closely with underwriters, medical management, and claim examiners to meet required deadlines, business objectives, and client service standards
• Review, finalize and issue Reinsurance Agreements, Policies and Amendments
• Assists with maintaining and updating underwriting manuals as needed

Qualifications

About you:

• Proficiency with Microsoft office with focus on Excel and Word and knowledge of PowerPoint
• Ability to manage competing priorities and to operate without close supervision during high volume, high demand cycles of the business
• Superior oral and written communication, negotiation and analytical skills
• Ability to think strategically, effectively assess risk and make solid data-driven decisions

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Experience working in matrix organizations an asset
