Position Title: Assisted Living Managing Nurse (RN)
Reports To: General Manager Location: Rotating between all Our Cottage properties in Plano and Dallas, TX Schedule: 20 hours per week (4 hours/day), plus on-call availability
Position Summary:
The Assisted Living Managing Nurse (RN) at Our Cottage plays a vital leadership and clinical role across our assisted living homes. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Nurse is responsible for overseeing resident care quality, Care Partner training, medication management, and regulatory compliance in coordination with Texas HHSC standards. This role also provides essential support to families, ensures caregiver readiness, and establishes systems to improve operations and quality of life for all residents.
Core Responsibilities:
Resident Health Oversight
Conduct health assessments and wellness checks for each resident as needed
Approve and evaluate all new and prospective residents from a medical suitability standpoint as needed
Develop and manage individualized care plans, including dietary requirements and medication schedules
Train and oversee staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all resident health records is maintained
Communicate proactively with families regarding health updates or concerns
Care Partner Training & Supervision
Maintain the records of Care Partners' critical documentation (certifications, background checks, CPR/First Aid)
Develop and execute onboarding training for all new Care Partners
Create and manage a 3-month training catch-up plan for current staff
Lead in-service training programs and provide continuous coaching
Ensure caregiver practices align with Our Cottage standards and state regulations
Compliance, Documentation & Licensing Support
Conduct a full audit of resident documentation and home care protocols within the first 30 days
Design and implement corrective plans to address any compliance gaps
Monitor adherence to HHSC, OSHA, and infection control standards
Support the HHSC license transfer and renewal process with proper documentation
Assist in preparing homes for regulatory inspections
On-Call & Clinical Support
Remain available on-call to assist Care Partners, residents, or management with clinical questions or emergencies
Participate in family meetings and tours with prospective residents
Evaluate procedures for receiving, administering, and tracking medications, and provide training to care partners to ensure consistent and compliant execution.
Collaborate closely with the GM to align care practices with operational goals
Qualifications:
Active RN license in Texas, in good standing
Current CPR certification
Graduate of an accredited nursing school
Proof of negative TB test and compliance with HHSC health requirements
Preferred 2+ years of experience in assisted living, long-term care, or home healthcare
Familiarity with Texas HHSC regulations and documentation practices
Strong written and verbal communication, clinical judgment, and leadership skills
Ability to work across multiple properties with a flexible and proactive attitude
