    We are a growing hospice and palliative care organization committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and regulatory compliance. We are seeking an experienced physician to serve as an Assistant Medical Director and Supervising Physician for our hospice and palliative care programs.

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Medical Director / Supervising Physician will provide clinical oversight, consultation, and collaboration for Nurse Practitioners, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and support regulatory compliance efforts. This role offers flexibility with remote participation and the opportunity to positively impact patient care across hospice and palliative services.

    Key Responsibilities

    Nurse Practitioner Oversight

    Provide physician collaboration, consultation, and supervision for up to four (4) Nurse Practitioners.

    Be reasonably available during normal business hours via phone, secure messaging, email, or telehealth.

    Offer clinical guidance and consultation regarding patient care decisions.

    Clinical Leadership

    Review and discuss:

    Complex symptom management cases

    Controlled substance concerns

    Hospice eligibility determinations

    Palliative care appropriateness

    High-risk patient situations

    Regulatory and compliance matters

    Meetings and Collaboration

    Attend monthly:

    Hospice Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) Meetings

    Clinical Quality Improvement Meetings

    Nurse Practitioner Case Review Meetings

    Meetings may be attended remotely via teleconference or video conference.

    Chart Reviews

    Review a minimum of ten (10) patient charts per Nurse Practitioner each month.

    Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, payer requirements, and organizational standards.

    Quality Improvement & Education

    Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols.

    Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.

    Provide education, mentoring, and support to Nurse Practitioners and clinical staff.

    Promote evidence-based practice and best clinical outcomes.

    Medical Director Coverage

    Provide backup Medical Director coverage when available during periods of absence of the primary Medical Director.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    Active, unrestricted Georgia medical license (MD or DO).

    Current DEA registration (if applicable).

    Board Certified or Board Eligible in an appropriate specialty.

    Ability to maintain all credentials necessary to perform services.

    Professional liability insurance with minimum coverage of:

    $1,000,000 per occurrence

    $3,000,000 aggregate

    Preferred:

    Hospice and Palliative Medicine experience.

    Prior experience supervising Advanced Practice Providers.

    Strong knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation and hospice regulations.

    Compensation is structured to reflect fair market value for professional services rendered and is not tied to referrals or business generation.
