    Nadia Yakoob & Associates is a boutique immigration law firm that focuses primarily on business immigration with some family, criminal and asylum matters. We have an opening for a full-time Associate Attorney to work at our office in Oakland (right off 12th Street BART Station) on family and employment-based permanent residence petitions and non-immigrant work visas. The candidate should be admitted to and in good standing with any state bar. This position is on-site with the option to go hybrid (3 days in office) within six months.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provide counsel on immigration laws to individuals, startups, and companies.
    • Handle employment based nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters.
    • Analyze, evaluate, and prepare key immigration legal issues including H-1B, L-1, TN, and PERM labor certifications.
    • Determine and prepare appropriate immigrant visa petitions.
    • Resolve and troubleshoot complex legal issues.
    • Interact with various outside entities, including but not limited to clients, governmental agencies and officials, courts, corporations, and other law firms.
    • Draft complex case matters including support letters, audit responses, and appeals.
    • Organize, plan, and schedule cases on priority basis.
    • Handle and follow cases from inception to completion within the stipulated time frame.
    • Review and approve documents and filings with accuracy.
    • Writing employment-based immigration articles.
    • Maintain highly organized case files and public files.
    • Respond accurately and timely.

    About you:

    • Comprehensive knowledge and skilled in fact gathering, problem analysis, and the interpretation of immigration laws, regulations and policies.
    • Practical knowledge of how to find the relevant law and/or guidance in order to assess case requirements and determine the legality of actions.
    • Skilled in recognizing the dimensions of a case, identifying information that is needed, and developing a recommendation or taking action that is consistent with program requirements and management objectives.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, relevant findings, and conclusions using appropriate language, legal reasoning, and organization of facts.
