  • Responsibilities

    We are hiring a part-time Associate Board Clerk to join the Legal team and support board clerking operations. Reporting to the Sr. Legal Director & Deputy General Counsel, this role works closely with the Clerk of the Board to ensure smooth, compliant, and well-organized board and committee activities.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful public-sector initiatives, gain legal/board governance experience, and contribute directly to the success of the agency.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the Clerk of the Board with meeting preparation, documentation, and follow-up actions
    • Serve as backup Clerk of the Board during absences
    • Independently clerk committee meetings as assigned
    • Prepare agendas, correspondence, and meeting materials in compliance with the Brown Act
    • Provide administrative support, including maintaining monthly and annual schedules, checklists, and process documents
    • Help maintain databases for Board/Committee membership, actions, and compliance documents
    • Attend and clerk selected Board, committee, and special meetings, including:
      • Managing virtual meetings (primarily via Zoom)
      • Occasionally traveling to offsite meeting locations
      • Taking detailed notes and editing drafts for clarity and grammar
    • Handle confidential information that has not yet been made public
    • Assist with Board and staff Form 700 filings
    • Coordinate Board member attendance at Board and subcommittee meetings
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education and experience (one of the following):
      • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1–2 years of work experience, or
      • Associate’s degree with at least 2–3 years of work experience, or
      • High school diploma or equivalent with at least 3–4 years of work experience
    • Background in Legal, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
    • Experience in public-sector clerking or similar board/committee support strongly preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel), SharePoint, and Confluence
    • Experience using Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking and basic analysis
    • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and think critically
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated patience, tact, and courtesy when working with internal staff, Board members, and external stakeholders

    Compensation & Schedule

    • Nonexempt position
    • Starting rate: $40.68 per hour
    • Approximately 20 hours per week
