The Role
The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) is a senior physician leadership position responsible for overseeing daily medical group operations, advancing quality initiatives, and supporting the execution of strategic priorities. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the ACMO provides clinical leadership, operational guidance, and change management support across the organization.
This role is ideal for a physician leader with experience in managed care, clinical operations, and performance improvement who enjoys working at the intersection of medicine, strategy, and execution.
What You’ll Do
- Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for the medical group
- Support execution of organizational strategy through workflow design, care pathway development, and performance management
- Partner with the CMO to drive quality improvement, operational excellence, and provider engagement
- Foster strong relationships with physicians, clinical staff, practice leadership, and internal business units
- Lead and support change management initiatives and performance accountability structures
- Contribute to provider education, peer review, credentialing, and clinical governance activities
- Support initiatives related to managed care operations, utilization review, risk adjustment, and care coordination
- Utilize clinical and performance data to guide decision-making and quality improvement efforts
- Participate in payer operations, medical review, clinical economics, and informatics initiatives
- Collaborate effectively within a matrix-style organizational structure

Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board certification through the American Board of Medical Specialties
- Active, unrestricted Florida medical license with no history of adverse action
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience with leadership responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in:
- Managed care and payer operations
- Risk adjustment and utilization review
- Care coordination and case management
- Quality improvement and informatics
- Peer review and credentialing
- Comfortable overseeing operational strategy, workflow design, and performance management
- Skilled in change management and crucial conversations
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze and present quality and performance data
- Proficiency with EHR systems, care management platforms, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to build trust and rapport across clinical, operational, and executive teams
