Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Associate Coach – Track and Field and Cross-Country to assist in the coaching, administration, and promotion of the men’s and women’s track and field and cross-country programs in accordance with institutional, Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) standards.
The salary range for this positions is $39,000 – $44,300 (salary will vary depending upon educational credential and experience).
The Associate Coach – Track and Field and Cross-Country contributes to the recruitment and development of student-athletes, ensuring academic achievement, athletic performance, and community involvement. This position plays an integral role in supporting a culture of excellence, discipline, and volunteerism.
The selected candidate will also be eligible to participate in the College's health, dental, and vision plan, as well as the State of Kansas KPERS retirement system. This position is also eligible for relocation/moving expenses up to $2,000.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience in combined events (heptathlon/decathlon), either as a coach or former athlete, is highly preferred.
Student athlete experience at the collegiate level in track and field event or cross-country event is preferred.
Overview of Essential Responsibilities
Assist the Head Coaches in planning and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, and meet preparation.
Act as a liaison between both the Track and Field and Cross-Country programs, providing programmatic support to both teams.
Assists the Head Coaches in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes in all events and distances.
Assist in coordinating daily practices and transportation needs.
Provides individualized instruction and feedback to help student-athletes improve event specific skills and overall performance
Support athletes in sprints, distance, throws, jumps and relays according to program needs
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline in all training and competitive activities
Ensure a safe and supportive training environment for all student-athletes
Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
Support efforts to ensure all allotted Letters of Intent (LOIs) are filled with high-caliber recruits each season
Develop and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and regional coaches to expand recruiting networks.
Participate in communication, visits, and outreach to prospective student-athletes
Help monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility, referring to appropriate support resources as needed
Adhere to all NJCAA, KJCCC, and institutional rules and policies regarding eligibility, recruiting, and competition
Assist in maintaining accurate records for rosters, attendance, eligibility, and performance
