    PURPOSE The Associate Director of Development is responsible for driving revenue growth through the development, enhancement, and execution of fundraising strategies. Emphasis is placed on managing key donor relationships, supervising fundraising staff, and leading special events. The Associate Director will ensure adherence to best practices, oversee the achievement of fundraising goals, and collaborate with the National Director of Development to shape and evaluate organizational strategy.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide dynamic leadership in building a high-performing fundraising team, demonstrating the ability to manage laterally and upward, and effectively engage multiple stakeholders, including C-level executives and community leaders.

    In collaboration with the National Director of Development, develop and implement a three-year strategic plan aligned with organizational objectives.

    Identify, implement, and maintain resources, training programs, and performance metrics to enhance fundraising efficiency and effectiveness.

    Ensure all fundraising best practices, tools, and resources are current, organized, and accessible to staff

    Use CRM tools and data analytics to enhance supporter engagement and sustained donor involvement, identifying other activities to strengthen supporters’ connections with UMDF’s mission priorities.

    DONOR ENGAGEMENT & STEWARDSHIP

    In partnership with the National Director of Development, develop and execute a partnership growth strategy focused on revenue diversification and expansion of corporate partners, major donors, and foundations.

    Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and foundations.

    Lead and oversee donor stewardship activities, including recognition programs, impact reporting, and targeted outreach.

    Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to identifying, cultivating, and maximizing new donor opportunities.

    TEAM LEADERSHIP & INTERNAL COLLABORATION

    Lead and mentor a team of two direct reports, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

    Facilitate cross-departmental communication to ensure alignment on organizational goals.

    Collaborate closely with finance and operations to align fundraising activities with budgetary requirements.

    SPECIAL EVENTS STRATEGY

    Oversee the national special events strategy, including Energy for Life Walks, DIY fundraising, and third-party events.

    Lead volunteer recruitment, sponsor acquisition, and event optimization to maximize revenue generation.

    Monitor and evaluate event performance relative to benchmarks, providing regular updates and recommendations to the National Director of Development.

    Integrate other revenue streams and fundraising campaigns into event communications and collateral.

    BRAND STEWARDSHIP

    Work closely with the marketing and communications team to align fundraising messaging with the organization’s broader communications strategy.

    Represent UMDF at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and donor engagement.

    Ensure event websites and collateral are current, consistent, and effectively communicate impact.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

    Experience:

    Minimum 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience with a demonstrated record of success; strong background in training and development preferred.

    Minimum 3+ years of management and volunteer leadership experience.
