Role Overview:
Intramotev is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join the development team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. This full-time, in-office role, based in St. Louis, MO, has a strong electrical focus with additional software abilities. The successful candidate will be a member of the development team for innovative self-propelled capabilities in electrical controllers, battery systems, and electric motor systems for current and future platforms. The development of these capabilities includes multi-disciplinary skills, algorithms development, systems development, integration, and testing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and translates requirements into electrical system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
- Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
- Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
- Supports supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with suppliers to optimize the design.
- Supports researching technological advancements for potential application to company business needs.

About You:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. This position is open to December 2025 graduates.
- 0-2 years of experience with controllers and electrical systems, including relevant internship or university research experience.
- Foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis and design.
- Hands-on experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes , multimeters, and power supplies.
- Academic or project-based experience with power electronics , such as DC/DC converters or inverters.
- Proficiency in a programming or scripting language, such as C/C++ or Python.
- Familiarity with a circuit simulation tool (e.g., LTspice ) or a modeling environment (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink ).
- U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided).
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
- Internship, co-op, or university research experience in embedded systems or power electronics.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, Eagle, KiCad).
- Familiarity with vehicle communication networks, especially CAN bus.
- Exposure to electric motor control theory or battery management systems (BMS).
- Participation in university design competitions like Formula SAE Electric, Solar Car, or similar hands-on engineering projects.
- Unmanned Rail Systems / Unmanned Systems.
- Experience with CANbus systems.
- Experience with electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 0-2 years' related work (internship/co-op) or university course projects experience.
