We are currently looking for an Associate General Counsel to join our growing team! In this role, you will play a critical role on Brightspeed’s legal team, reporting directly to the VP, Deputy General Counsel – Commercial, Privacy & Compliance. You will serve as the primary legal advisor to the marketing and operations teams, providing strategic counsel on a broad range of marketing, advertising, consumer protection, and product-related matters. This role offers a unique opportunity for a versatile attorney to work across multiple functions, including intellectual property, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance. You will engage directly with senior leadership and collaborate across the organization to ensure business initiatives are executed with legal integrity and strategic alignment

As an Associate General Counsel, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Provide legal counsel on marketing campaigns, advertising strategies, promotional activities, and co-branded partnerships across Brightspeed’s Business and Consumer business lines
• Review and approve content, advertising copy, digital assets, presentations, and claims for compliance with applicable advertising, consumer protection, and intellectual property laws
• Draft and review disclosures, disclaimers, contest rules, terms of use, and talent release agreements
• Advise product teams on all phases of the product lifecycle, from ideation to go-to-market and end-of-life strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCC regulations, privacy, and security standards)
• Serve as a trusted legal partner to cross-functional teams including Marketing, Communications, Sales, Product, and IT, as well as senior leadership
• Support the negotiation, drafting, and review of commercial agreements, marketing contracts, and content licenses
• Collaborate with the Privacy team to advise on marketing-related privacy issues and customer data use
• Manage and protect Brightspeed’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets
• Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal considerations related to advertising, social media, brand use, and promotions
• Stay abreast of emerging regulations and industry trends related to telecommunications, marketing, advertising, and privacy to ensure compliance and proactive risk mitigation

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 10+ years of legal experience with a strong focus on marketing, advertising, and product counseling.
• Deep knowledge of advertising, consumer protection, and e-commerce laws, including but not limited to TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and Telemarketing Sales Rules
• Experience in the telecommunications and/or technology industry, including regulatory compliance related to telecom services and broadband.
• Familiarity with legal issues related to privacy, intellectual property, brand marketing, and omnichannel advertising.
• Excellent judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven contract negotiation and drafting experience.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.

• Ability to lead with integrity, curiosity, and a focus on enabling business innovation while protecting the company
