Location Note that this position is located at our Newport Beach, California office. We have a hybrid schedule where all staff are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and have the option to work from home or in-office Mondays & Fridays.

Associate Investment Research at Canterbury Consulting Canterbury is seeking candidates with excellent quantitative, qualitative, communication, and interpersonal skills for an Associate position on Canterbury’s Research Team. The position’s primary role will be to engage broadly in all areas of fixed income (including credit oriented hedge funds) and private credit research. The individual will need to excel in a team environment while also being comfortable working independently at times. The individual is expected to exhibit high ethical standards.
At Canterbury, we expect our Research Associates to learn at a fast pace in a demanding environment, and demonstrate excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills. From your first day on the job, you will be an integral part of the process in helping our clients achieve investment success.
Key Responsibilities:
· Participate in conference calls and meetings with prospective and existing fixed income and private credit managers
· Support the Vice President on sourcing and managing the inflow of investment opportunities
· Contribute to the due diligence of new managers, e.g., reference calls, investment memorandums, and closing process
· Maintain quantitative and qualitative manager information within the firm’s internal database
· Monitor and update internal reports on manager performance, activity, and holdings
· Work closely with the Vice President and other senior Canterbury professionals across all aspects of fixed income and private credit research
· Travel is required from time to time
Qualifications:
· At least one year of investment, consulting, corporate finance, or other relevant experience; fixed income and private credit experience within these functions strongly preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to construct clear, effective arguments in support of an investment thesis
· Ability to work independently, demonstrate attention to detail, and manage multiple tasks/deadlines effectively
· Intellectual curiosity and developing investment judgment
· Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, collegial team environment
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
· High proficiency in Microsoft applications; experience with Pitchbook, the Morningstar Direct platform, and Bloomberg Terminal a plus
Education:
· A degree in finance, economics, or a related field
· Enrollment in the CFA, CAIA programs are highly preferred
