A leading global investment management firm is seeking a Portfolio Control Associate to join its dynamic investment operations team. *$150-$155K Total Comp (base + full annual bonus) + Equity
*Hybrid 3 days/week in office*
The Portfolio Control Associate serves as a key point of coordination between internal teams — including trading desks, deal teams, legal, and compliance — and external partners, ensuring accurate execution, control, and reporting across complex investment portfolios.
Responsibilities
Trade Lifecycle Management
- Support trading and deal desks with booking administrative trades, including inter-portfolio transfers and private market transactions.
- Reconcile and maintain trade-level reference data such as mandates, dealing desks, and fee categories.
- Track and update unfunded commitments to ensure accurate liquidity forecasting.
- Facilitate onboarding of Assets in Kind and Cash for pension acquisitions and new client accounts.
Process & Control Oversight & Client Onboarding
- Coordinate re-registrations and other portfolio movements with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
- Monitor key performance indicators and drive process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to SOC 1 controls and maintain a culture of operational excellence.
- Support key initiatives and cross-functional projects impacting investment operations.
- Complete custodian questionnaires and manage documentation required to onboard new client mandates.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless setup and funding of accounts.
- Maintain organized audit trails and ensure consistent client communication and delivery standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
- 3–5 years of experience within asset management, custody, or broker/dealer operations.
- Prior exposure to Middle Office or Trade Operations functions preferred.
- Experience with SOC 1 controls and process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with investment products such as corporate bonds, treasuries, FX, alternatives, and derivatives.
- Experience with systems such as State Street PAM, Markit thinkFolio, or Aladdin Explore is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills; Bloomberg, SQL, or Python experience beneficial.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment.
