    Job Description

NBC News NOW is launching a new live two-hour show airing 10a–noon, and we’re building a dynamic, collaborative team to bring it to life.

We’re looking for an Associate Producer who can write clean, compelling copy, edit strong video elements, and help build smart, visually sharp segments under tight deadlines. This role sits at the center of a live daily broadcast — working closely with Producers, Anchors, and the Executive Producer to turn the biggest stories of the morning into clear, urgent, audience-focused journalism.

If you thrive in a control room, move quickly when news breaks, and want to grow in a fast-paced streaming environment, this is an opportunity to help shape a show from day one.

This position is represented by the NewsGuild-CWA.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Edit video elements, soundbites, and packages under tight deadlines
    • Write clear, concise scripts and banners with speed and accuracy for a live daily show
    • Produce and build segments from pitch to air, including research, script writing, and element gathering
    • Collaborate closely with Producers, Senior Producers, the Executive Producer, and Anchors to shape daily coverage
    • Pitch timely and relevant ideas for day-of and future segments
    • Monitor breaking news, wires, and social feeds to keep the team ahead of developments
    • Work with graphics, booking, and field teams to ensure all elements are accurate and visually strong
    • Support the control room during live broadcasts and adjust quickly as rundowns evolve
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Experience editing video in Avid and/or Premiere
    • 2+ years of experience in broadcast, streaming, or cable news, preferably on a live daily show
    • Strong writing skills and solid editorial judgment
    • Ability to multitask and stay calm under deadline pressure
    • Experience working in or closely with a live control room environment
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
    • Must be willing to work early morning hours and contribute in person at 30 Rock

    Desired Characteristics:

    • A journalist first, with a sharp eye for accuracy and tone
    • Strong visual sensibility and understanding of how video and graphics enhance storytelling
    • Energized by breaking news and quick turnarounds
    • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented
    • A demonstrated interest in pursuing a long-term career in journalism

    Additional Requirements:

    • Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week at 30 Rock. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

    Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00am–12:00pm ET

This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and additional discounts and perks. Learn more about the benefits offered by NBCUniversal by visiting the Benefits page of the Careers website.

    Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000
