    Catalent Biologics in Madison is based in our new, state of the art, 100,000 square foot facility, with expanded mammalian cell line engineering and biomanufacturing capabilities utilizing single-use systems. Catalent-Madison employees are helping to improve future patient outcomes by working on products that are designed to treat cance r, various autoimmune, fibrotic and blood disorders, HIV, diabetes, heart and lung diseases as well as Alzheimer’s and more.

    Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm ( weekend work on a rotating basis when needed).

    The Cell Line Development team is responsible for using the patented GPEx® suite of technologies to create high performance stable cell lines using a non-replicative retrovector system and transfection technologies. This system can be used with any mammalian cell line and many eukaryotic cell lines.

    The Associate Scientist, Cell Line Development, will accurately, timely, and safely perform a variety of laboratory procedures and experimental methods in Cell Line Development that support external client projects and internal technology development work. The Associate Scientist, Cell Line Development will involve performing scientific work involving the creation of cell lines, the creation, production, and purification of retroviruses, and the creation of cell banks, cell culture expansion and production, and cell culture analytical methods

    THE ROLE:

    • The role requires experienced aseptic skills to ensure clean and uncontaminated cell lines as these cell lines will be the starting point for biologics development.

    • The project experiments require the application of platform methods involving mammalian cell culture process variables; however, the nuanced nature of cell culture requires subjectivity and interpretation as well as requiring a moderate degree of investigation to produce processes with optimized productivity and capable of producing product within required product quality specifications.

    • The experiment design and results will be documented accurately, analyzed using standard statistical methods, and communicated with external clients and other functional areas according to project timelines.

    • Support essential lab support assignments including equipment maintenance and cleaning, lab material stocking, general lab cleaning, 5S organization, and other lab support tasks when required.

    • Applies technical skills to complete assigned work within own group/project team.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    THE CANDIDATE:

    • Bachelors in STEM discipline with 1-3 years of related experience

    • Aseptic technique experience a must

    • Mammalian cell culture must

    • GMP/GDP a plus

    • Bioreactor experience a plus

    • Customer facing experience/skills a plus

    • Ability to communicate effectively and follow/retain detailed written and verbal instruction in an accurate, timely, safe, and professional manner with supervisor, group members, and other departments as necessary, in a professional and accurate manner.

    • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
