Associate Tax Attorney — IRS & State Tax Controversy Orlando Tax Law is seeking an Associate Tax Attorney with 1–10 years of experience to join our firm. We are a high-end boutique law firm practicing only tax controversy and litigation, handling cases involving IRS audits, collections, Tax Court and District Court litigation, and state tax matters (Florida Department of Revenue and other states). This is a role for an attorney who thrives on complex, high-stakes work and wants to be part of a firm that delivers excellence without burning out its people. You’ll immediately step into meaningful, challenging cases and also play a role in our intake process — meeting with qualified prospective clients (often same-day) to evaluate their cases and set the strategy from day one. We keep caseloads manageable so we can work cases proactively and maintain the highest standards. This is not a 2,100-hour grind — our attorneys typically bill 1,600–1,800 hours annually while producing exceptional results and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Responsibilities: • Represent clients in audits, collections, state court, Tax Court, and District Court matters. • Lead initial consultations with qualified prospective clients and determine strategic direction. • Develop and execute strategies for complex tax controversy cases. • Draft correspondence, protests, petitions, and litigation filings. • Review and analyze tax returns, accounting reports, and financial documentation. • Conduct deep research in tax statutes, regulations, case law, IRS guidance, and the Internal Revenue Manual. • Maintain organized, proactive case management in our case management system. • Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent client service and results. Qualifications: • Must be a member of a Bar of any U.S. State or territory (Florida Bar membership not required). • LL.M. in Tax preferred but not required. • Strong knowledge of tax law and IRS procedures; experience with high-stakes, complex matters strongly preferred. • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to earn client trust quickly. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Highly organized, efficient, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through. • Positive, collaborative personality with a strong work ethic. • Honest, accountable, and motivated by helping people in crisis. Compensation: $100,000 - $150,000
