We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls. This role plays a key part in supporting property management.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
Manage accounting functions for assigned properties, including journal entries, and month-end close
Prepare and analyze monthly, and quarterly financial statements for each property
Reconcile bank accounts, general ledgers, and balance sheet accounts
Monitor cash flow, budgets, and variances, and assist in forecasting and budgeting processes
Communicate with property managers & board of directors regarding financial matters
Assist with audits
Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies
Communicate with banking institutions for all banking matters
Provide tax accountant year-end financial information required to file annual taxes & assist with filing and tracking returns
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience can substitute for degree.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management with knowledge of accrual-based accounting.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Enumerate(TOPS), QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office ( (e.g. Excel, Word and Outlook)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Competencies:
This position requires you to be available during normal business hours of 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. However, the business hours may be extended as needed to meet deadlines of deliverables. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following, and are subject to change based on the evolving nature of the Florida Statues that govern condominium and homeowner associations, complexity of property requirements and/or changes to fund accounting:
Position Supervision:
Employee reports to Accounting Supervisor.
