INTERNSHIP POSTING - General Intern Company Description The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) is the academic leadership organization committed to promoting, advancing and achieving excellence in optometric education. Since 1941, ASCO has achieved this vision by representing the interests of institutions of optometric education, enhancing the efforts of these institutions as they prepare highly qualified graduates for entrance into the profession of optometry and serving the public's eye and vision needs. A non-profit association, ASCO proudly represents all accredited schools and colleges of optometry in the United States and Puerto Rico. ASCO also has Associate and Affiliate members and organizations across the globe. ASCO's activities cover a wide range of programs including applicant development and diversity, faculty and executive development, advocacy, residency promotion, data development and communications. Job Description Exceptional opportunity for an industrious intern to learn how a non-profit operates from an inside seat. This position serves as intern to multiple departments within a small organization, involving work in such area as communications, public relations & marketing; data collection & research; fundraising; special events/event planning; education; advocacy; and business operations. Qualifications - Excellent writing, editing & proofreading skills. - Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook). - Excellent interpersonal skills one-on-one and via telephone. - Experience working in customer/membership databases a plus. - Experience working with social media a plus. - Experience working with volunteers a plus. Hours: Up to 20 hours per week during normal office hours (9 am - 5 pm M-F). Compensation: $12.00/hour. Location: Executive Boulevard in Rockville, MD. 15 minute walk from the White Flint metro station.
