    ABOUT US:

Started in 1977, Tomarco designs, manufactures, and distributes non-structural engineering and design systems for construction applications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

    • Project Management (Intermediate) – Assistant Project Manager I will be assigned small and medium size projects that they are responsible for; all work and correspondence is supervised and reviewed by the supervising PM. Intermediate knowledge of project management is crucial. Contributions to Project Management Template are expected; Assistant Project Manager I will be responsible for maintaining percent completion log for assigned scopes.
    • Billing (Intermediate) – must understand our billing tracking software (Nexus) and how to input ALL hours whether it is for a project, administrative, or personal leave. Assign billing tasks to staff. Proficient at submitting billing requests and clearing WIP on corresponding tasks via Nexus. Reporting billing forecasts for the month for active project work.
    • Communication – will be able to communicate in all forms of correspondence for tasks related to projects associated with; will create transmittals, send follow up emails: after coordination meetings, for requested information, for clarification on missing or unclear project documents and providing clear project updates; all related communication must be electronically documented in Nexus notes, project folders, and CC’d to the supervising PM. With minimal supervision, Assistant Project Manager I will be able to lead client meetings.
    • Project File Management (Intermediate) – must have a working knowledge of our file structure and know how to keep all file folders current and organized; understands ISAT file naming convention and how to save files in the corresponding project folders on the network. Must be able to share various file locations so all personnel have them readily and easily. Creating sub-folders within existing project folders and maintaining document control is essential to the role. Assistant Project Manager I will train new hires and project engineers in project file management.
    • Submittals (Intermediate) – must be capable of building submittals when provided with an SDF (Seismic Design Force worksheet) and PIW (project information worksheet); must be able to create submittals using ISAT legend builder software. Assistant Project Manager I will be tasked with assisting training new hires on the seismic submittal process.
    • Submittal Response (Basic) – must be able to craft professional documents/correspondence (for review by Senior PM or PM) in response to SEOR/DSE/design team comments to include revisions of drawings to meet the demands of the project design team.
    • Legends (Intermediate) – must have a working knowledge of bracing legends; must be able to build them for projects (all trades), configurations; according to the relevant building code. Needs to be able to troubleshoot common issues in ISAT bracing legend such as bad references and failure of anchors. Must communicate errors or outdated detail references to ISAT software development team.
    • Detail Seismic Bracing Layouts (Intermediate) – will perform seismic layouts per the requirements of the legend and the ISAT bracing manual; will understand how a legend is built and how to troubleshoot spacing issues, walls, and deck types. Provide QC review of seismic bracing layouts for project engineers and provide clear feedback on all reviewed submittals.
    • Perform Kit Takeoff Count (Intermediate) – must be able to complete a kit builder and write a quote for seismic kit materials based on the ISAT kit builder software. Must be able to modify kit builder part costs if requested by PM or sales staff.
    • General Knowledge of all ISAT Kit Components (Intermediate) – must be able to identify ISAT hardware and understand their uses and differences; hardware includes all bracket styles, LRD’s (longitudinal restraint device), rod stiffeners, anchors, strut, etc. Will be able to identify requirements of ISAT hardware as detailed in the Seismic Restraint Systems Guidelines; articulately explain those requirements to clients via phone or email.
    • Assist in Development – assists the engineer(s) and senior project managers in ongoing development & improvement of technical support procedures and systems for ISAT.
    • Point Loads (Intermediate) – proficient with point loads; Assistant Project Manager I will be able to set up point load files and explain point loads (how loads relate to the ISAT seismic restraint legend) to clients. Assistant Project Manager I will be tasked with training new hires on the point load process.
    • Program Proficiency (Intermediate) – proficient with the following software:
      • AutoCAD
      • Bluebeam
      • ISAT Seismic Restraint Legend
      • Kit Builder
      • Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook)
      • Navisworks
      • Nexus
      • Track-N-Transfer
    • Code Knowledge (Intermediate) – intermediate knowledge of all codes pertinent to ISAT engineering scopes and how they govern seismic engineering. Assistant Project Manager I will be familiar with:
      • ASCE-7 (Chapter 13 Seismic Design Requirements for Nonstructural Components)
      • IBC (International Building Code)
      • CBC (California Building Code)
      • Knowledge of other codes such as ACI (American Concrete Institute), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) and SMACNA (Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association) is encouraged.
    • Prepare Quotes (Intermediate) – must be able to prepare suspended distributed utilities and basic Custom Engineering quotations for use by PM.
    • Organization – an essential function of the role is to consistently maintain organized Outlook inbox and email folders. Employees must be able to keep a clean and organized work environment.
    • Field Support (Intermediate) – under the supervision of a Project Manager, will perform job walks on construction sites to gather information, provide ISAT inspection, or help troubleshoot project issues.
    • Performs Other Duties as Assigned – The employee might be asked to perform duties not listed in this job description, but which are also considered to be essential to the employment position.
    • Daily Nexus Time Sheet Entry – Demonstrates a commitment to accurately entering 100% of completed work into Nexus daily.
    • Utilization of Nexus Notes – All internal and external correspondence related to each task must be thoroughly documented in Nexus notes. This ensures comprehensive record-keeping and effective communication.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 5+ years of work experience in Non-Structural Components Seismic Design.
    • 3-4 Years’ experience as a Project Engineer; the Assistant Project Manager I work under the guidance of a mentor Senior PM and PM(s).
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to effectively communicate (orally, and in writing) with all levels of the organization.

    Further Qualifications – The successful candidate must pass a background check.
