    Job Description

    WHAT THIS JOB ENTAILS:

    The System Network Test Developer will submit technical solutions for requirements, as well as develop test plans network hardware and software solutions. This position requires the ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to details. 

    SCOPE: 

    • Setup and configure network switches and servers
    • Test different network topologies primarily using automated methods
    • Write test scripts, utilize HWE automation framework to do regression tests
    • Analyze test results
    • Work with Site Networking team to qualify solutions
    • Lab Network Setup will focus on SONiC network OS first 
    • Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
    • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of their specialty
    • Works on problems of a diverse scope 
    • Receives little instruction on day to day work, general instruction on new assignments

    YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead testing and configuration of various automations
    • Configure and operate various test tools and equipment (hardware and software) used in a lab environment
    • Test automation is the primary need Triage test issues for HW/Test versus platform
    • Develop operator-level test plan, execute test plan and validate requirements, identify issues and troubleshoot and document test results
    • Debugging/QA on test results Will automate a bevy of manual tests into a suite
    • Collaborate with hardware and software vendors to improve product quality & readiness
    • Engage with operators, equipment vendors, test equipment, and vendors during lab trials
    • Triage test issues for HW/Test versus platform
    • Perform debugging/QA on test results, assist and more complex issues
    • Support wireless protocols
    • Lead automation of a bevy of manual tests into a suite

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 5+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
    • Attention to detail - as this role is in testing, it is important to test things in a reproducible way
    • Must know scripting Languages: Python, Expect, Shell 
    • Fundamental network knowledge including the protocols: BGP, LLDP, TACACS+, Syslog, QoS
    • Familiar with Clos type network designs
    • Familiar with Linux-based operating systems
    • Familiar with DevOps tools like: GIT, Jenkins, Puppet
    • Familiar Ixia traffic generation gear
    • Comfortable working on common network operating systems such as Cisco NX-OS, Arista EOS, and Juniper JunOS
    • Teamwork, quick learner, able to adapt to changes, open to suggestions
    • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
    • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel
    • Understanding of test methodology
    • Ability to build test automation from manual test cases 
    • Developing skills (various programming languages)
    • Ability to streamline and optimize a series of tasks and/or tests
    • Knowledge of data modelling (normalized & denormalized modells)
    • Excellent time management skills
    • Strong communication skills

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
    • 5+ years experience in development and scripting roles 
    • Application development experience 
    • Experience is designing distributed computing environments in the public cloud (GCP, AWS or Azure) Wifi, Bluetooth and cellular component knowledge

    PHYSICAL DEMAND & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
    • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
    • Must be able to use a computer
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively
