    Astrobotic Technology is seeking a 202 **4 Summer **Avionics Intern to serve on our Avionics subsystem team. Astrobotic Technology wants you to assist in the design, fabrication, and test of avionics hardware and electronic components for the Griffin lunar lander.

    Astrobotic Technology, Inc. is a space robotics company that seeks to make space accessible to the world. The company’s suite of lunar landers delivers payloads to the Moon for companies, governments, universities, non-profits, and individuals. The company is also developing advanced space robotics capabilities such as terrain relative navigation, mobile robotics for lunar surface operations, and reliable computing systems for mission-critical applications. Originally spun out of Carnegie Mellon University in 2007, Astrobotic is pioneering affordable planetary access that promises to spark a new era of exploration, science, tourism, resource utilization, and mining. Astrobotic is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Note: This temporary position is expected to last 6 months.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Assist in the design of PCBs that serve as the spacecraft’s primary and secondary avionics systems.
    • Perform trade studies on electronic components and select the best options for engineering and flight avionics units.
    • Develop test procedures for component, board-level and system-level integrated testing.
    • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing with engineering and flight systems.
    • Write and present technical reports.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Prototype development skills
    • Strong debugging skills
    • Digital, analog, and signal conditioning design skills

    Experience in the following:

    • Researching and selecting components from various external vendors by verifying that the components meet the mission needs
    • Developing schematic and board designs using software like Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar
    • Testing assembled PCBs or integrated systems
    • Performing hardware-in-the-loop tests for selected components

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

    • Capable of programming embedded systems, FPGAs, microcontrollers, computer processors, graphic processors, or similar
    • Developing test scripts or simulations for testing integrated systems
    • Schematic and board design proficiency using software like Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar
    • Capable of programming embedded systems
    • Ability to develop modeling tests for power or avionics systems
    • Capable of programming FPGAs, microcontrollers, computer processors, graphic processors, or similar
