    Astrobotic wants you to join the company’s Safety & Mission Assurance Team in the Operations Department as the corporate Configuration Management Specialist. You will be responsible for the development, communication, and maintenance of configuration and data management processes utilized by Astrobotic for design, integration, test, quality and delivery of product using a engineering data management system in coordination with our ERP system. Specific responsibilities include the development of detailed configuration management plans, generation of common processes & procedures, establishment of the single source engineering repository, and oversight of the change management process. Your role will involve implementing and maintaining configuration management program across programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation and traceability is maintained. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in configuration management within the aerospace industry and be familiar with aerospace regulations and standards. This position reports to the Safety & Mission Assurance Manager.

    Job Responsibilities Include:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective configuration management processes and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent documentation of product configurations, changes, and revisions.
    • Control and maintain the configuration of engineering products, including specifications, drawings, bills of materials, and related documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Monitors the review of released engineering change data and change documentation activities to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policy.
    • Identify and document product baselines, configuration items, and associated attributes. Establish naming conventions and ensure proper identification and tracking of all configuration items.
    • Implement and enforce change control processes to evaluate, review, and approve configuration changes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer specifications. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage change requests, assess impacts, and facilitate change implementation.
    • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of product configurations, changes, and their status. Generate configuration status reports as required.
    • Conduct configuration audits, including flight build physical configuration audits, to ensure compliance with established baselines, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Identify and resolve discrepancies and non-conformities.
    • Establish and maintain a controlled configuration documentation system to manage product documentation, revisions, and distribution. Ensure proper version control and document release processes.
    • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure configuration management requirements are integrated into their processes. Coordinate and communicate configuration-related information to stakeholders.
    • Develop and deliver training programs on configuration management processes and facilitate training for users to meet their PLM/PDM needs.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains within the configuration management function. Drive initiatives to enhance configuration management practices and tools.

    Required Experience and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
    • 5 + years of experience in configuration management, preferably within the aerospace industry.
    • Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., CMII, MIL-HDBK-61A, AS9100).
    • Proficiency in configuration management tools.
    • In depth knowledge of engineering specifications and quality requirements in an aerospace operation.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a configuration management program that supports the organization’s vision and strategy.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

    • Experience the aerospace industry.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working at a fast pace with minimal supervision.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, ERP databases and content management systems. Experience with SharePoint and JIRA Confluence is preferred.
    • Knowledge of aerospace, space and defense industry standards and specifications relative to design, production and management systems is preferred.
    • Certification in configuration management (e.g., CMII certification) is a plus.
