What You Will Do:
We are seeking a Quality Control Engineer (QCE)! In this role you will ensure products, processes, and quality records conform to quality standards, and establish compliance with Astronautics' Quality Management System (QMS) and customer communicated requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining a strong collaborative partnership with cross-functional team members that facilitates organizational success, and leading on-time completion of various quality engineering deliverables.
This is an on-site position located at our headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Manager of Quality Assurance.
How You Will Do It:
- Develop and update quality department work instructions (Quality Control Operating Instructions - QCOI).
- Review and approve supplier and receiving inspection submitted First Article Inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102 and Astronautics' procedure.
- Create, maintain, and disposition Material Review Board (MRB) cases for receiving inspection and in process.
- Maintain Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Complete the Quality Control requirements for the set-up of purchase parts - Quality Control PO notes, inspection work center, etc.
- Review and approve Purchase Requisitions (PR's) and Purchase Orders (PO's) when Quality Control authorization is required.
- Create and update Receiving Inspection control plans for product specific inspection requirements
- Participate in Astronautics' Continuous Improvement (CI) activities.
- Support Supplier Quality activities as assigned including:
- Work with the supplier, purchasing and Quality Control to reduce incoming inspection fall out
- Initiate, lead/participate in, and review Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs). Communicate directly with the quality rep at the supplier regarding non-conformances identified at Astronautics.
- Update Receiving Inspection control plans, as needed, based on supplier performance and trend analysis.
- Track trends and monitor supplier quality data.
- Act as Quality representative in activities to evaluate current and potential suppliers for their ability to meet Astronautics' expectations.
- Perform supplier industrial audits and assessments, as required, to support new and ongoing programs. This includes virtual facilitation and/or onsite supplier visits with auditing of suppliers to AS9100/ISO 9001 and Astronautics' and customer requirements.

Required:
- You must be permanently eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- A Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in engineering, the sciences, or another relevant field from an accredited institution
- A minimum of three years of experience with a quality focus in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications.
- The capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated).
- The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external (both verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Organizational skills; ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
Desired:
- Experience working in an electronic assembly environment.
- Experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma principles (Green Belt/Black Belt)
- Advance quality planning (flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans, auditing, RCCA, 8D)
- Knowledge of Quality and/or Supplier Quality Engineering
- Experience with AS9100, ISO9001, and First Article Inspections (FAI)
