    We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  High School Diploma with vocational program certificate with emphasis in construction, or a closely related field. Six (6) months of recent work experience in the building/construction industry.  Associates degree preferred.

     

    THIS IS A PART TIME (20 HOURS PER WEEK), NON-EXEMPT POSITION WITH A MINIMUM HOURLY RATE OF 11.83 PER HOUR. THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS.

     

    WORKING HOURS:  Monday through Thursday 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Prepares/set up construction lab for students as requested by faculty.
    • Assist faculty and students with the operation of lab equipment.
    • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot lab equipment for optimal performance.
    • Ensure the security of the labs, lab equipment and classrooms.
    • Supervise lab activities to ensure compliance with established lab rules and guidelines
    • Assist faculty in setting up and coordinating tests and exams.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Applicants must be able to relate and work with faculty and students individually and in groups; exercise good judgment and communicate effectively both orally and written; have strong organizational skills and ability to work in a multi-task environment and maintain positive customer relations.  The successful candidate will supervise students in a lab environment; must have construction knowledge and skills. Applicants must maintain, repair, and handle tools and tool supplies, as well as, demonstrate tool functions and safety procedures for students. Ability to use a computer, and understand communications, instructions, regulations and procedures; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
